About Eco Tan & Eco by Sonya

Sonya Driver became consumed with finding a safe sunless tanning alternative after her sister was diagnosed with a melanoma at only thirty years of age.

“I began researching ingredients in products we were using and I did not like what I found… I wasn’t prepared to use these products on my own skin and was even more concerned about the risk they posed to my sister. It was in these very moments that Eco Tan was pioneered”.

Using a Certified Organic skin care range really does make a difference. After all, your skin is your largest organ and much of what you put on it gets absorbed into the bloodstream. Whether  you prefer your self tan to be express or slow-building, Eco Tan promises you the most beautiful, believable bronze for all complexions, with NO hidden nasties. Guaranteed!

Eco by Sonya is a healthy alternative with no hidden nasties.
Eco by Sonya made Australian history by becoming the first and only tanning company to be certified organic by the Organic Food Chain, under the Australian Government’s organic and biodynamic standards. They are also accredited by Choose Cruelty Free. The color in the their tan is derived from cacao(chocolate), so the products do not contain green or orange tones. The products also do not contain synthetic ingredients or GMO’s.

“Truth within labels” – Please be aware of misleading organic claims!

Look beyond the fancy marketing and be sure to research the ingredients displayed on labels for yourself. A company can claim to have an organic product but then add a number of synthetics. Logic would then say that the product is no longer organic.
“Our skin is the largest organ. A lot of what we put on it, absorbs into our bloodstream.”

What are some of the benefits of choosing certified organic?

  • Organic products support sustainability as producing products organically reduces the dependence on non-renewable resources.
  • Certified organic products are grown and manufactured without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, animal derivatives or GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organism).
  • The certified organic production process works in harmony with nature, keeping harmful chemicals out of our environment. The organic standards places great emphasis on building and sustaining healthy soil, crops, and animal welfare.
The food we choose to eat and the products that we choose to use affect our health and quality of life. The last thing our bodies need is yet another source of synthetic and harmful chemicals that can be found in many everyday products, as research has shown that most of what we put on our bodies get absorbed into our bloodstream.
Certified organic products are not just chemical free but have been grown, prepared, and processed just the way nature intended.

    Gemmotherapy? What’s That!?

Gemmotherapy was discovered during the 1950’s by a Belgian doctor by the name of Dr. Pol Henry (1918–88), who worked with a group of French Homeopaths and Biotherapists including Dr. Max Tétau (1927-2012) and Dr. O.A. Julian (1910–84). Gemmotherapy is also included in herbal therapies in France in the Pharmacopée Francaise[1] in 1965.
Gemmotherapy is a form of herbal medicine that uses remedies made from the embryonic tissue of various trees and shrubs using the buds and emerging shoots, the reproductive parts such as the seeds and catkins and from newly grown tissue such as the rootlets and the cortex of rootlets. The remedies can also be made from the sap.
In the peak time of germination, the raw material is taken from the buds during spring and the seeds in autumn. The reason for this is that specific plant enzymes and hormones are released during this timed harvesting process, offering greater benefits for the remedies. Our remedy of choice is made from Quercus pedunculata (oak bud extract). It is a well-known and effective universal drainer for cellular detox, and is, in addition, an excellent choice to support dental hygiene.
